DS invest in a state of the art worktop picking platform
After a recent visit to Fulda, Germany, our National Operations Manager, John Dobson is excited to announce that our warehouse in Newcastle-under-Lyme (Parkhouse), has taken delivery of its very own state of the art Worktop picking platform.
Capable of picking worktops from storage up to 8 metres high, this major new investment will help IDS on our journey to continually improve our service to customers. The platform has been custom designed to pick worktops and so reduces the likelihood of damage, is safer for the operators to work, and is more efficient to operate. Safer, better and faster.
So says Operations Director Steve O’Brien; “This is an exciting addition to our Newcastle-under-Lyme warehouse and part of our commitment to invest in our ‘best in class’, Nationwide business. Furthermore, this upgrade helps IDS to keep up its excellent distribution record, which currently stands at 99% on-time, in-full delivery.”
Additionally, this investment assists in providing an overall reduction of energy consumption for the warehouse and subsequently limits the business’ impact on the environment. Intelligent chargers, which identify the battery used and cool it to increase the efficiency of its charge, help battery life to last significantly longer. In turn, this assists IDS in its mission to minimise its impact on the environment.
Our valued warehouse operatives are very impressed with the new machinery; having eagerly anticipated its arrival. Neil Fenwick-Donaldson remarked, “it is always good to see an investment being made and in particular one that genuinely improves ease of use”.
